SeeS.ai

Strategic regulatory advisory for SeeS.ai to secure permission for routine BVLOS operations across UK and international jurisdictions.

What is the project:

A specialized consultancy and advisory engagement where Neuron leveraged its deep regulatory expertise to assist SeeS.ai, a leading developer of autonomous drone command systems. The project involved analyzing BVLOS permission strategies across CAA, EASA, and FAA frameworks to define a roadmap for scalable permissions.

Partners:

SeeS.ai.

Outcome:

Delivery of a comprehensive "BVLOS Regulation Report" and permissions roadmap. SeeS.ai subsequently became the first UK company to secure authorization for routine BVLOS flights on industrial sites, validating the effectiveness of the advisory strategy.1

Autonomous System Developers: Accelerates the path to market for advanced drone-in-a-box solutions.Infrastructure Owners: Enables routine remote inspection of critical assets (power lines, wind farms).

Strategic & Technical Analysis

Moving to "Routine" Operations The advisory work for SeeS.ai focused on solving the "Exemption Trap." Many drone companies operate on single-use exemptions that are time-consuming to secure and impossible to scale. The "BVLOS 2.0" strategy developed in this project aimed for routine permissions—standing authorizations that allow flights to occur without case-by-case approval. This required a deep mapping of the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology against SeeS.ai’s technical capabilities, specifically identifying where "human-in-the-loop" requirements could be replaced by "system-in-the-loop" safety cases.

Dual-Layer Verification A critical insight from this project was the necessity of independent surveillance for autonomous systems. Regulators are hesitant to trust a drone's internal sensors alone. 4DSKY’s role in this context is to provide the "independent truth" source—a secondary, ground-based data layer that verifies the drone is where it claims to be. This "monitor" function is a critical component of the safety case for highly automated systems, providing the Containment assurance required for higher SORA SAIL levels.
